On the 16th October 1971, John and Yoko moved to this loft at 105 Bank Street in trendy Greenwich Village, Manhattan. They lived here untill february 1972 renting it from Jerry Butler of the Lovin’ Spoonful.
It had two large rooms and a wrought-iron staircase which led up to a small roof garden. Their neighbours at the time included John Cage, Bob Dylan and Jerry Rubin.
As you walk down the street you reach the waterfront of the Hudson River. The couple spent much time in the rear bedroom, with its large ceiling skylight. At the time of their stay at this address, John and Yoko released the album “Some Time In New York City” and they played several benefit concerts. After the vessel was robbed, the Lennons were looking for a safer building and moved to the Dakota building at 1 W. 72 St. in February 1973.
